ASB GetWise
On Monday and Tuesday this week, a charitable man named Jeff Clark visited NBC to advise us about money. He taught all classes throughout the school. As a trained actor he was able to express his message effectively. The Year 7 & 8 students learnt how to create a “GWYWP” (Get What You Want Plan). To make a GWYWP, you need to subtract your monthly expenses from your monthly income. The sum of that equation is how much you save each month. Knowing that will help you figure out how to get what you want and ensure you do not get into debt. Afterwards, we played an entertaining game in groups of four. We were given $1800 (fake money) to spend on a holiday in Fiji and were given scenarios with choices. Each choice had a price, but you also earned entertainment points every time you paid. During the game, we were given the opportunity to purchase items like medical insurance, plane tickets, a hotel, food and activities. The group with the most entertainment points at the end of the game won. It was a fun and challenging activity.

I would love to go on holiday in Fiji! I really liked how you described his visit. Nice work! Copy this link to find my blog! http://awahononoahj.blogspot.com/

Hi Anna, I think it's really cool that you guys were talking about money. The GWYWP plan sounds like it's very useful. Who had the most entertainment points?
